Frequently Asked Questions

The Class Advisor will help you get set up for your homeschool year and is your main contact person for all matters regarding Online Academy. Your Class Advisor is just an email away and will support you digitally every step of the way in your homeschooling journey. She will be: providing progress reports and daily lesson schedules; providing the details you need to prepare in homeschooling like accounts for online materials, guidelines, and manuals; giving technical support in navigating the DLO platform and Moodle Website; assisting you with online quarter exams schedule and uploading of exam results to the Online Grading System; providing quarterly coverage of lessons and helping you to track your timeline based on the commitment form; conducting weekly homeroom classes (Bible, MAPE, HELE/TLE); and assisting you with any Learn program services and concerns.

Parents and/ or guardians are in-charge of leading their child’s learning with the help of DLO. Reporting of grades (quizzes, performance tasks/projects, recitation/participation) is part of your quarterly tasks. Parents will have teacher’s guides with answer keys to properly evaluate assessments.

Online Academy uses Distance Learning Online, a blended curriculum with instructional supplements from Bob Jones University Press.
– Online materials should be supported with printed books.
– Among the printed books are students’ worktexts and activity manuals.
– Built-in online materials are included: teacher’s edition, answer keys, instructional videos and online library. Videos range from five to 30 minutes long, depending on the subject matter.

Online Academy requires the use of technology to promote and support student learning. All school participants, including parents or legal guardians, students, and staff, will use Distance Learning Online (DLO). As long as you have Internet access, you can take courses with DLO. While it is possible to take courses with dial-up connectivity, it will take a little longer for pages to load. You might want to print a few lessons and work offline. Lessons, eTextbooks, and assignments can be accessed from our responsive web interface from virtually any device, including iPad, Android, PC, and Mac. When it comes to browser requirements, DLO runs on various browsers with ease. Please make sure your browser has the latest updates before logging on to the portal (Google Chrome version 64 or higher, Firefox version 57 or higher, Microsoft Internet Explorer version 11; for users of Internet Explorer on Windows 8, DLO must be operated on the Desktop version of Internet Explorer).

Yes, this is possible as long as the necessary materials  for the study are downloaded. Online materials are required along with the printed books, and online books can be saved offline through the Bookshelf app.

Lessons are taught by subject specialist teachers in pre-recorded video form, which are available on the DLO platform which is accessible on virtually any device. The wonderful thing is, you and/or your child can determine the hours devoted in a day for his/her study, and the overall learning pace.

You have ten to twelve 10-12 months or 180 academic days to complete your academic year. But if you require a National Collegiate Athletic Association-accredited course for US college admission, then you only have ten (10) months to complete your academic year.

Quizzes make up 80% of the student’s grade, and each student needs to take 3 or more quizzes per subject every quarter with 5 to 10 items each. 20% of the final grade will be from the online quarterly test. For grades 1-4, they will take these quizzes using their worktexts. The assigned class advisor will ask them to complete their quizzes by the end of the quarter. For grades 5-12 quizzes are taken from the quizzes and chapter tests in DLO. But for all levels quizzes for Filipino and Araling Panlipunan (Deped) will be taken using the worktext and graded by the parent using the excel sheet provided. Quarterly exams are done online via Moodle upon request. The class advisor will send the exam details once the student accomplishes the required quarterly grades.

While BJU DLO is a US curriculum, Filipino and Araling Panlipunan books from local publishers are added for those under the DepEd accreditation.

All HG families are encouraged to join our exclusive Facebook community, Fams of HG, where we conduct free MAPE classes, share bonus learning content, and post general community updates to help both learner and parent-facilitator in their homeschooling journey.

these questions or finish with a check up game or activity if there are no questions.
